SOPs
- SOP stands for Standard Operating Procedure. SOPs are documents that we use to dictate the procedure to follow for a specific task.
- SOPs define what to do, not how, they define the process, not the technique
- In other words, a SOP will tell you what you have to complete, but is not training on how to complete it
- SOPs do dictate “procedure” to follow
- If you are issued SOPs, you are expected to follow them
- If an SOP is referenced for a particular task or project, you are expected to follow the SOP
Example SOP

- This is an example SOP for the procedure for setting up an email list
- If you notice, it does not show you step by step how to create an email list, but it does define the expectation
- Being issued an SOP, or referenced, and not following procedure is not accepted. For example, if asked to create an email list and you do not set up a thank you page, that is not following procedure
- Our SOPs are extremely important and it is critical you follow procedure thoroughly
- Use the SOP as a guideline for checking the completion and thoroughness of your work
